by Sarah Craighead Dedmon

The public is invited to attend a memorial service for Lyman Hill and Charles Niles, the first two Maine game wardens killed in the line of duty. Both wardens were murdered in Washington County 135 years ago. Next week, several law enforcement agencies will meet at the headstone of Lyman O. Hill at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 8, on Gardner Lake Road in Whiting.
