Rocket resistors register displeasure
by Nancy Beal
The inquiry of a tiny aerospace company into a rocket launch site on a Jonesport island and a command and control center on Beals Island brought out a vocal group of detractors to what is usually a laid back weekly selectmen’s meeting in Jonesport last week (Nov. 10). Ordinarily, Chairman Dwight Alley pounds his gavel once, calling the meeting to order, and lays it down for the rest of the session. Last week, he held it throughout, used it frequently, including while ejecting one unruly speaker.
