Eleanor M. Kilton

Eleanor M. Kilton, 81, peacefully passed away on August 3, 2020, at Down East Community Hospital, with her family at her side. She was born September 14, 1938, in Cherryfield, Maine, daughter of the late Amos and Maude (Randall) Matthews.
She is survived by two daughters, Rose Marie Denny and husband Stephen of Addison and Peggy Smith and husband Ralph of Jonesport; companion of 28 years, Douglas Stanhope of Jonesport; sister-in-law, Patricia Alley and husband Roland of Sorrento; brother-in-law, Charles Kilton of Sorrento; granddaughter, Tracy Smith Merchant and husband Darek of Jonesport; great-grandchildren, Amber Davis and fiancé Dustin of Addison, Kyle Davis and significant other Katheryn of Addison and Cody Davis of Addison; great-great-grandchildren, Autumn and Hudson Robinson of Addison; an aunt, Dorothy Morency; cousins, Dickey Matthews, Gloria Bagley and Madelyn McMahon; friends, Laura Chipman and Faye Carver; special caregiver, Tama Merchant; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents Eleanor was predeceased by her husband, Donald Kilton in 1991; father-in-law, Charles Kilton; mother-in-law, Velma Kilton; sister, Bertha Brown; brother, Merle Matthews; sister-in-law, Marita Kilton; granddaughter, Kimbley Davis; niece, Irma Pelletier; and special friends, Ann McCollum, Betty Black, Roma Batson, and Marie Beal.
Eleanor had a love of dancing, camping, and was an avid card player. She cherished all her family and friends. Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She made many friends throughout her life and could usually be found with them around her kitchen table with a deck of cards.
At the request of Eleanor, there will be no funeral service.
