Crystal Dawn Fitzgerald (Stanley)

Crystal Dawn Fitzgerald (Stanley), 40, of Lubec, ME, passed away May 29th, 2024, with her loving husband by her side after the most courageous battle with cancer. To say courageous would be an understatement, Crystal was a fighting warrior until the very end. Crystal was born on a snowy day, in Machias, ME on January 6, 1984, to Gary & Almeda Stanley (Matthews). She grew up in Lubec, ME and attended Lubec Consolidated School. Crystal’s biggest joy in life was her two beautiful children, Dawson Lee Stanley and Laynee Rheann Stanley. She considered them her greatest accomplishments, she was beyond proud of them and loved them beyond measure. In 2010 she met the love of her life, James Fitzgerald. She was immediately smitten. For a time, they resided in Surry, ME before making their way back home to Lubec. On a sunny day in August 2017 the happy couple married. Crystal was never so happy as the day she became Mrs. Fitzgerald. She gained a bonus son, Ryan Fitzgerald whom she loved dearly and was equally proud of. She loved all three of her children immensely. Crystal’s heart became more full of love and pride when she became a Nanny, she loved watching her grandson Abel grow and play. Crystal didn’t like to travel too far from home but in 2021 took a vacation to Isla Mujeres, Mexico with friends. Crystal loved tending her many house plants and planting vegetables, she loved taking off on a nice day to go fishing. Crystal worked many jobs from grocery store clerk to CNA, CRMA. For the past few years, she was manager of West Quoddy Station, a role she took very seriously, and she was extremely proud of. If you ever saw Crystal out and about, she was rarely without her two closest friends, Penny and Shona. The trio had a special bond. Crystal loved to sing and had the voice of an Angel, even if she didn’t think so. She was fiercely protective of her children, family and friends. If Crystal loved you, you knew she loved you and you never had to wonder.  Her sister Angela was her role model, always seeking her advice, she looked up to her Big Brother Gary and made sure to visit her parents daily, if only to stop in for a moment -she loved them all dearly. Crystal was an avid member of the American Legion Auxiliary Stuart-Green Unit 65 having served as Secretary, Treasurer, Historian and Membership Chairwoman. Even winning the prestigious award of Unit Member of the year, chosen by the Department of Maine Auxiliary. She loved her work with Veterans.
