Sharp-Shootin’ Whiting Woman Claims Her First ‘Grand Slam’

By Paul Sylvain

Annie Oakley hasn’t got anything on Frankie Hall, who this year set her sights on being one of the few Maine women to achieve a hunting grand-slam. Hall checked that box off her bucket list on Nov. 15, taking down a 195-pound buck in Whiting.

More than 20 years after discovering her passion on Maine’s Youth Hunting Day, the Whiting woman capped off this fall with a grand-slam season — harvesting a wild turkey, bear, buck deer, and moose within just a few weeks.
