Short Takes and Unfinished Business

Riots Versus Revivals

When career criminal and fentanyl-infused George Floyd died in police custody, the left’s response was months of violence, arson, riots, and grievances. When conservative evangelist and faith-infused Charlie Kirk was assassinated, his political brethren responded with a revival and forgiveness.

I’m sure the difference means nothing and is totally irrelevant to frequently stated concerns about “Fascism” and “Threats to Democracy.” In the interest of not stirring up trouble, I will try and refrain from asking for definitions of “Fascism,” “Democracy,” and “Threats,” especially of those who routinely warn of such.

Climate Con, the UN, and Green Vig

Last week, I attacked the climate and energy policy record of Governor Mills, Hannah Pingree, and the Democratic Party: Maine’s disastrous climate and energy policies are driving up the price of electricity, damaging the economy and competitiveness of rural Maine and the 2nd Congressional District, and averting no global warming whatsoever. I plan on asking who is benefiting from our disastrous climate and energy policies.

The subsidies to solar and wind are being paid by manufacturing operations across the state through “public policy” (climate con) surcharges on their electricity use. One Washington County Versant customer told me his public policy charge was more than $7,000/month. I wonder how much Cherryfield/Oxford Foods is ponying up for blueberry processing. One potato processor in Aroostook County reported paying over $57,000 a month in green vig. These climate con policies are destroying our economy and will avert no climate change whatsoever. The authors and supporters of these policies will be on primary and general election ballots for Governor, U.S. Senate, U.S. House, and the Maine legislature. Their policy preferences can be either rewarded or rejected. Incentives and elections matter.

This battle has many fronts — across Maine, nationally, and now at Turtle Bay in Manhattan, where President Trump told the United Nations that climate change is a big con, enriching a favored green elite whilst impoverishing everyone else: “It used to be global cooling. If you look back years ago in the 1920s and the 1930s, they said, ‘Global cooling will kill the world. We have to do something.’ Then they said global warming will kill the world. But then it started getting cooler. So now they could just call it climate change because that way, they can’t miss,” President Trump said. “ It’s climate change because if it goes higher or lower, whatever the hell happens, it’s climate change. It’s the greatest con job ever perpetrated on the world, in my opinion. Climate change, no matter what happens, you’re involved in that. No more global warming, no more global cooling. All of these predictions made by the United Nations and many others, often for bad reasons, were wrong. They were made by stupid people that have cost their countries' fortunes and given those same countries no chance for success. If you don’t get away from this green scam, your country is going to fail.”

Thank you, Mr. President. I couldn’t have said it better myself.

May I suggest a plan to resettle the UN to Gaza City? A resettlement plan for the various UN diplomats and staff can only improve both New York and the capital of the newly recognized Palestinian state. I suggest we rename Gaza City Hamastad for obvious reasons. The current New York UN facilities should be converted to charter schools and capitalism indoctrination centers (otherwise known as gainful employment).

Or we could just give it to Mayor Mamdani for government-run grocery stores. Will they be Halal? Won’t have to worry about Kosher, as most of the Jews will have been doxed and self-deported.
