    Indicted on multiple felony charges and facing court dates on singular, unrelated events, former Washington County Sheriff Donnie Smith presently remains noncommittal in seclusion in Lubec.

    Last week’s scheduled jury trial, earlier requested by Smith, was settled out of court after he agreed to pay a $250 filing fee, which in effect canceled the trial. That Friday court appearance was to address misdemeanor charges which had been brought against him for telephone harassment.
