Machias is ringing with excitement as it welcomes Downeasters near and far to the county seat for a sleigh full of Christmas fun this weekend. Undeterred by cooler temperatures and 4 p.m. darkness, many shiretowners, their families, and friends have circled the weekend of Dec. 5-7 on their calendar since Santa and his elves bid adieu last December.
