Monthlong Machias Bridge/Route 1 Dike Closure Begins April 1
Deja Vu all over again? These flashback photos show the temporary Machias dike bridge replacement project in December 2023 Machias dike, beginning from top left with the bridge’s closure on Day One (Dec. 4), and the placement of the temporary bridge (Dec. 6). Dirt ramps leading onto the bridge are seen being prepped for paving in the Dec. 9 photo. Bottom left photo shows guardrails being installed on Dec. 14, with the bridge reopened in the bottom right photo on Dec. 15.
