Some random and not-so-random notes and rants for America’s Birthday:

-July 4th, 2023, marks our 247th birthday, not our 404th. Hannah Nicole-Jones, the New York Times, and the Pulitzer Prize committee are lying leftist scum, and their hate America project should be recognized as Marxist revisionist propaganda. 

-Republican Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is a fearless populist capitalist without Trump’s braggadocio and baggage. Viva Vivek’s 10 Truths:

God is real.

There are two genders.

Human flourishing requires fossil fuels.

Reverse racism is racism.

An open border is no border.

Parents determine the education of their children.

The nuclear family is the greatest form of governance known to mankind.

Capitalism lifts people up from poverty.

There are three branches of the U.S. government, not four.

The U.S. Constitution is the strongest guarantor of freedoms in history

-Senator Angus King is yet another octogenarian running for reelection in our ossifying gerontocracy. Angus is currently pushing for a national carbon tax to combat climate change, further raising the price of heating oil, gasoline, natural gas, and electricity. He is also championing the conversion of Katahdin Woods and Waters into a national park. He voted to confirm a tree-spiking apologist as head of the federal Bureau of Land Management. He supports appeasing Iran. Senator King has no announced opposition. I hope that an aggrieved Republican from the 2nd Congressional District will rise to defend rural Maine. Senator King has a standing invitation to address the unwashed plebes at the Cooper Grange anytime he deigns to venture Downeast. Failing that, I am sure the grateful Heritage Planning Grantees at the Sunrise County Economic Council will be more than happy to host their benefactor in a safe and affirming venue.

-LD1619, Gov. Mills’ abortion on demand without restriction bill, passed the House by a narrow 74-72 vote. Representatives Davis and Strout voted No; Representative Perry did not vote.  The upshot of the reversal of Roe vs. Wade is that States can make their own abortion policy decisions. Maine voters will hopefully hold elected policymakers accountable for those decisions.

-Maine Speaker of the House Rachel Talbot-Ross called for “storming the State Housel” over the damning white supremacy and systemic racism of the State Department of Education’s failure to mandate statewide instruction on Maine’s history of racist oppression. No effort to impeach Speaker Ross for inciting insurrection has emerged, further confirming the impression that we have dual standards of justice, one for the left and one for the right. As a black woman of the left, Speaker Ross has triple protected class status. Both U.S. and Maine Attorneys General Merrick Garland and Aaron Frey assured assembled Democrats that no such protection or forbearance would be extended to white male conservatives, citing the January 6th insurrection/impeachment protocols as precedent.

-How do concerns of a coming global warming apocalypse square with far too frequent furnace ignitions into mid to late June? As the WVOM audio clip goes, “we all know global warming is real and dangerous.” My appendage: “to our freedoms and pocketbooks.”
